Unlike many of the engine / gearbox suppliers around the UK we do not mislead our customers. If you have already been looking on the internet or have contacted anyone recently for a Re-conditioned Engine / Gearbox and received a price I am sure you presume this is for a genuine Re-con unit... But is it? Think about it for a minute? Did the person you spoke to actually say that it is a genuine re-conditioned engine or did they just say ‘We have one.’?

Many of the engines / gearboxes people get quoted for today are for second-hand ones often from scrapped cars or written off vehicles! Would you really want one of these fitted to your car? When a vehicle is written off it is usually because it has had extensive impact damage generally at the front end of the vehicle where most engines are located. Even if it isn’t, the impact can often damage an engines casings, engine mounts or other critical components leaving a big doubt as to whether it is safe or not. Many of these engines are never tested prior to be sold, so even if there is no external damage, internally there is a good possibility that they are in as poor a condition as your existing faulty engine or gearbox.

The only time that you will find this out is after you have paid for it, had it delivered and paid someone to fit it for you. When it does turn out to be a smokey, oil burning, overheating or knocking / noisy engine or gearbox what do you do? You contact the scrapyard that supplied it who will have to refund your money. However they will NOT refund you for the labour you have paid to have it fitted, the extra you will have to pay for someone to take it out again or for any cambelts, oils and consumables which will have been used. You will often have to pay the cost of shipping it back to them via a carrier which can sometimes cost in excess of £100 alone. By the time you have gone through this process it could end up costing you more than it would have cost you for a Genuine Re-Conditioned unit from us in the first place.
